A Bauhaus classic on Madison Avenue, New York
The last building designed by the Bauhaus master Marcel Breuer on Madison Avenue in Manhattan. It was built in 1966 for the needs of Whitney Museum of American Art. Since they are constructing a new building downtown at Washington str., rumor has it that the Breuer’s classic will soon be occupied by the Mets’ modern collection and the recently recruted former chief curator at Tate Modern, London, Sheena Wagstaff. I fancy this building a lot and I am kind of sad that Whitney is leaving it, but still… I thought The Mets was all about history, not about trends…
We love the rough materials, the geometry and this gorgeous play of light. This video will show you the beauty of Whitney from the outside and on the inside.
